What should I feed my guinea pig?

A guinea pig's main diet should consist of sun-cured premium quality timothy hay. It should also be supplemented by pellets and fresh vegetables. If grass hay is not available then a legume hay such as alfalfa may be substituted, however that should be avoided if possible because too much calcium can cause bladder stones. No matter which hay you use make sure that it is readily available at all times.

Does my rabbit need long fiber?

Grass hay is perhaps the single most important item in the rabbit diet. Grass hay should be feed in unlimted quantities to rabbits of all ages. A rabbit fed only commercial rabbit pellets does not get enough long fiber to keep the intestines in good working order. The long fibers in the hay push things through the gut and keep the intestinal muscles in good working order. Also keeping the intestional contents moving at a rate which nature intended, hay may also help prevent intestional impactions caused by ingested hair or other indigestible items.

When feeding pellets to my hamster how much do I give them?

Hamsters under 6 months of age should be fed unlimited pellets daily. Adult hamsters over 6 months of age should be fed 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pellets daily. Gestating and Lactating females need unlimted pellets daily. Provide clean, cool, fresh water at all times. The best time to feed hamsters is at dusk. Always allow unlimted access to premium quality timothy hay and premium quality orchard grass. Be sure to make any food changes slowly over a week's period. With your veterinarion, monitor your pet's body condition and adjust feeding levels to maintain desired body condition. Always keep living areas, feeder and water clean.
